From puppy dog eyes, the “beach crimp,” neon makeup, oyster nail polish and more – this is the season to experiment with bolder beauty trends. This is your guide.
PUPPY DOG EYES
The new cat eye is… puppy dog eyes! This technique is trending in Korea and slants the eye downward (instead of upwards) and makes eyes look rounder and sweeter.
BEACH CRIMP
The new modern beach ‘do pays homage to an 80s relic – the crimper! As seen on the Stella McCarthy and Jeremy Scott SS2015 runway, just crimping a few strategic strands adds a touch of cool texture to beach hair and ponys.
FESTIVAL MAKEUP
Rhinestones, pearls and star tattoos are big during festival season, here’s how you can subdue the trend for nearly everyday wear!
- Make it monochromatic. (i.e. green crystals on green eyeshadow, brown rhinestones on brown brows, red rhinestones on red lips)
- Apply rhinestones on back of eyelashes for bling when you blink!
- Positioning is key, you can apply rhinestones to inner corner, outer corner only.
- One-day washable tattoos or star sequins let you rinse it and forget it if you don’t love the look.
SAND ART HAIR
Using the “sand art” method of coloring, each strand of hair is painted several different hues, and the dye is applied in horizontal sections, kind of like filling up a bottle with colored sand.
